Bioinformatician - MSA


Job Summary:

We are looking for a Bioinformatician to join our team and focus on multiple sequence alignment (MSA) and NGS techniques for protein and DNA sequences. In this role, you will develop and apply computational models on new experimental data, provide measures of uncertainty, and participates in interdisciplinary discussions aimed at the design of new experiments. You will interface closely with experimental and computational deep learning design teams and be an important part of the design-test-learn computational and experimental feedback loop. You will have an important role in developing and executing bioinformatics efforts at Evozyne and contributed to the overall advancement of our scientific and commercial goals.


  • Build, maintain and run routine data analysis pipelines for multiple sequence alignment and NGS to support multiple projects
  • Prepare sequence alignment reports, create visualizations, interpret high dimensional data and explain results to R&D teams
  • Work with team members to develop bioinformatics pipelines and analysis tools on cloud resources
  • Maintain and incorporate current knowledge of advances in MSA and relevant technologies
  • Contribute to method validation plan and drafting testing protocol and standard operating procedure (SOP)
  • Report on project progress and present data effectively at team and management meetings

Required Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Ph.D. in cell and/or bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or biology, or a related discipline with hands-on experience in MSA at a clinical lab, pharmaceutical company, and/or academic institution. A Master’s degree with more than 5 years of directly relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of machine learning
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics analysis techniques and tools
  • Understanding of computational algorithms to support DNA sequence alignment
  • Experience with sequence analysis (primers, probes) for inclusivity and exclusivity analysis.
  • Programming skills with Python or equivalent
  • Familiarity with relational databases and structured data
  • General understanding of molecular biology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to facilitate development of exceptional technical solutions required
